Övriga kommentarer om hotellet: Really, the only thing going for this place is the location. Beachfront room right on a (relatively) clean and quiet beach, a good place for families with kids. Unfortunately, the rooms are sub-standard, and in serious need of refurbishment (shower head not attached to the water hose, no wifi in rooms, no English TV channel, no in-room phone, barely sufficient air-conditioner, complimentary shampoo bottles of another hotel that smelled like used urinal cakes, no face towels, no beach towels, no mini-bar and so on...) Actually it was our second trip here, so the room standard wasn t a suprise, we returned for the location. The worst thing is the arrogant attitude of the management. Most of the staff were quite friendly, but the manager made it very clear that performing even basic functions as someone working in customer service was above him. When paying 2000 baht for a meal, you don t expect your food shoved onto your table edge from the lower level without a word or a smile (come on, it s only one step you need to go up). Communal dishes need side plates, not just some extra cutlery thrown on the plate. He served us the wrong dish (chicken instead of pork, there were only two choices for the barbecue skewers, we ordered by pointing to the food on display, saying pork in English and Thai, having the cook confirm pork , and write pork down on the bill). When bringing this to the staff s attention, the only solution we could arrive at was ordering (and paying for) a second dish with the correct meat. All we got from the manager was a look of disgust and spite, and yes our bill was presented to us for 2 pork barbecue . Someone in his position would know from experience how to solve simple issues like this for guests. It occurred to me that he just doesn t care. Övriga kommentarer om hotellet: The greeting on arrival was pleasant and we were helped with our suit cases, thank you. The Hotel location is not so bad if you have a car like we did, parking was good. Swimming pool was nice and clean and plenty of space to swim. Now for the room, we stayed in the first room on the 3rd floor oposite the elevator we call it the BAT cave because everyday the bats that are living in the roof would come out and if you are on the balcony they fly very close to you to get back in their hole in the roof, every morning when you wake up there is BAT crap (poo) all over the balcony floor and everyday the house keeping come to sweep it up, why dont they just get rid of the bats. Oh they are noisy too. We got an extra bed which came with a rock hard matress and a paper thin blanket, not good and rooms on the 3rd floor are very very noisy because it is the same floor as the pool and people and kids running up and down the corridoor. Oh and watch out for the slippery floors outside the rooms due to wet people coming from the pool....Now for breakfast we went down for breakfast once not worth doing stay in bed and eat somewhere else later, Eggs cold,flys everywhere, coffee tasted bad, orange juice was cordial very weak cordial rice soup not worth mentioning. Övriga kommentarer om hotellet: Having read the other reviews I can see that at least on one point something has approved - the breakfast now includes some fruit in addition to the Nescafe and toast.These bungalows are seriously overpriced. I would expect this standard for about a 1.200 baht per night for the deluxe superior beachview room. If you pay more then expect to be disappointed.Service was on the other hand very good the first days we stayed (when the managers where present). During that time the staff was very nice, presenting towels after bath, babysitting our youngest daughter etc without us having to ask them. To be honest this was the only thin that made us stay and not go home. After three days the friendly staff left. Now, the service was the worst I have ever seen, noone was doing anything. We left the hotel half a day after the friendly staff left. We were not the only family that left the hotel before booked dates I can say.If you are a young couple on a romantic trip and do not wish to be disturbed thismight be a good place as long as you don t pay overprice. Övriga kommentarer om hotellet: We stayed in the deluxe concrete bungalows (A8,9,10 and 12). These are a little away from the beach, but we were OK with it. Excellent bungalows with lush greenery around. Very relaxing environs. Mosquitoes can be pesky and seen to bother most during dusk, but this is a problem common to Ko Samed. Excellent breakfast and service. They changed breakfast menu everyday - so it was very good. Sunset and sunrise views near the resort was breathtaking and not to be missed.Staff very friendly and helpful. They arranged a special dinner for us on the beach on our final day at no extra cost. We loved the room which we had to upgrade to and pay extra, and to call the bungalows deluxe was a joke we had to move back to the room I originally booked which I thought was the premier room was terrible and very low end of the market. Övriga kommentarer om hotellet: Overall a great experience. A little bit expensive but probably worth it. Very efficient experience for check in (not used to this in Thailand). Check in at the pier and they take your bags and pretty much walk you through to the boat and onto a taxi the other side. I had heard some bad press about their bungalows. I did see some old ones but it seemed that we were put into some newer ones that had just been renovated. Not bad. The entire resort is very well kept and the restaurant area on the main beach seems very new. I was told the food and the service in the hotel restaurant was not so great but I actually found both to be excellent. Overall my stay was excellent and I would stay here again. Övriga kommentarer om hotellet: The hotel staff is very friendly and the food, specially beef is excellent and really not too expensive, normally difficult to find in Thailand. The internet could be improved so it can be used from the rooms too. It is no big deal to change. The Vongduean beach is a great location and really worth to stay there.
